Both my girls (12 and 14) and I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Neil was friendly and knowledgable and imparted information in a relaxed way. He struck a good balance between instruction and active learning and my girls particularly benefitted from trial and error to ultimate success. What was particularly satisfying was coming away with a sense of confidence in our own common sense and abilities which the day brought out. We both really enjoyed the day canoeing. Cedric was an excellent teacher allowing us to both learn and then consolidate our new skills. He also did a wonderful job of building our confidence on the water.The setting was ideal for our first time even with the little bit of wind in the afternoon. I am sure we will be back as we would like to introduce our ten year nephew to both canoeing and basic bushcraft. Many thanks for a great day. Chris and Charlotte

Dear Keswick Canoe and Bushcraft, This is Matthew and James, the two men who were graciously given instruction on fire starting over the weekend. The fact that we made fire using the bow and drill method that day left us smiling all the way home the following day. When we met Paul, we expected a few tips and pointers, but the fact that he took us through right to the end, and cheered us on when we got smoke and our eventual ember, made us feel like a million pounds. I personally cannot fully express how grateful I am. Even after thousands of years of making fires, every human, with me included, still feels fantastic after being able to make fire with technology, and ingenuity, that would stump the most talented physicists and computer technicians the modern world has to offer. Thank you again Paul and company, and you can fully expect us to be in contact very soon about one of your overnight canoe trips in the lakes. Cheers, Matthew and James

Hi Paul/ Claire, Thank you for the pictures and a brilliant day. It was a truly educational fun experience that we wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anyone. Also already looking at booking a different activity with Keswick canoe and bushcraft next time we visit the lake district. Our visit to the lakes was for eight days and we crammed in a lot of activities, the canoe and bushcraft day is the one that Noel and ourselves enjoyed the most. Paul is very good at what he does, and is incredibly knowledgable about the whole area, the bushcraft and a good teacher. Never knew I would enjoy canoeing so much! Can't wait till next time! Hi Claire and Paul, Thank you very much for the bushcraft course. I have to say, Oliver absolutely enjoyed himself. Can't wait to do more (which is something considering he does nothing but play on Xbox). He said he enjoyed the fishing, making sticks for the marshmallows and attempting lighting cotton buds with flint and steel. I haven't had the chance to talk to Liam but I'm sure he feels the same. We had a truly fantastic time doing a 'Canoe the View' afternoon with Shaun. It’s one of the best things we’ve ever done as a family. Our five year old thought it was amazing – stopping at islands, making hot chocolate and playing canoe games. Shaun really built up all our confidence and we’re now thinking about buying a family canoe. Hi, Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful afternoon we have just had canoeing on Derwentwater with Cedric.  He was a fantastic instructor - relaxed, knowledgeable and completely unpatronising with my 7 year old daughter.  We have come away from the afternoon really inspired to do more canoeing and feeling confident to try it on our own.  It was also fascinating to learn about the context and history of the lake.  Thanks so much and please tell Cedric how much we enjoyed it, Tricia

Thanks Claire for organising a custom trip at short notice for the family. It’s nice to feel part of the day rather than be on some timetabled treadmill experience. Bow guided us superbly from initial training exercises on the lake to the river trip. He allowed us to find our own skills yet offered guidance when needed. I’m looking forward a longer venture with added bushcraft skills next year. Mike

Thanks for a lovely day out last week, everyone really enjoyed themselves. Paul managed to gauge what we did at just the right level to include everyone but not make it too challenging.
