Eden River Trip
“This section of the River Eden offers outstanding beauty with mainly grade I/II water and a few grade III rapids. This is the very best the River Eden has to offer”
Starting on the North Yorkshire Border, the river Eden, a major river, flows northwards for 100km collecting all the water from the east of the Lake District and the west of the Pennines on its way down the Eden Valley, through Carlisle and out to the Solway Firth.
The section of the River Eden we paddle is 10km long and offers outstanding beauty with mainly grade I/II water and a few grade III rapids. This is the very best the River Eden has to offer.
This activity is suitable for adults only and all participants will be paddling tandem, unless requested otherwise.
We start our adventure in Lazonby, near Lazonby Eden bridge, where the first 2km on the water are flat and graded I – this is an ideal opportunity to brush up on river running skills, and gain plenty of confidence.
The river then winds its way through a lovely wooded gorge, dotted with sandstone cliffs. A stunning place to stop and eat lunch – we might even spot an otter!
Lower down are further rapids to negotiate and then the final challenge of shooting the weir just above the get out – alongside the pub in Armathwaite!
This river trip requires minimum group numbers of 6 or more to run.
