FAQ

Q: What about bad weather?
A: It is very rare for us to cancel due to bad weather but on rare occasions due to extreme conditions we may have to. Inclement weather can actually help to cement the learning process but we believe in delivering a good time not a hard time. Should we have to cancel due to severe weather we will endeavour to let you know at the earliest possible opportunity and hopefully re-schedule however a full refund will be available.

Q: What do I need to bring?
A: A recommended kit list will be sent out upon booking but you can also download a kit list for your course in pdf format.

Q: What if I am running late?
A: please let us know as soon as possible. We cannot delay sessions due to late arrivals but we will try to accommodate short delays if at all possible.

Q: I would like to do a specific activity but cannot see it advertised on the date I would like?
A: Please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Q: How much is it?
A: Course and activity prices are listed in the ‘at a glance’ information panel on every activity page. If you would like a quote for a private group booking please just give us a call.

Q: Where can I park?
A: Your course meeting instructions will cover options for parking and highlight if this is ‘Pay and Display’ we will also attach a ‘Keswick Town Map’ if attending a Derwent Water based course with some alternative parking options. We always recommend that no valuables are left on display in your vehicle.

Q: Where do I put my spare clothes when I am on the water?
A: Please bring your spare clothing in a rucksack/bag with you to the meeting point. We will either lock it securely in the boat house on the lake shore or it will be placed into a waterproof container and taken with you onto the water. Any personal medication should be carried at all times and this can be given to your guide for safe keeping if you wish.

Q: What happens if I capsize?
A: Tipping a canoe is by no means compulsory but it can and does happen! It is considered a rite of passage for most paddlers and indeed it is an integral part of the sport! Having one or more canoes capsized at any one time is not an issue but a perfectly normal event. Your instructor will simply recover any swimmers and boats and perhaps take a photo as a memento and when everyone is ready your journey continues.

Q: Do I have to be able to swim if I want to go Canoeing?
A: No, being able to swim is not a prerequisite for most of our canoe sessions but you should let us know when completing your booking form. Some of our canoe expeditions and river trips are not suitable for non- swimmers.eg River Eden, River Spey, Ardeche River.

Q: How fit do I have to be?
A: Each activity has an activity rating listed in the ‘at a glance panel.’ We have designed our courses to be as accessible as possible but some courses such as expeditions do require a good level of fitness. If you have any concerns or special requirements please just give us a call (contact us)

Q: Where do we meet?
A: Meeting instructions will be sent upon booking and they are also available to view in the ‘at a glance’ information panel. If you do not receive meeting instructions with your booking you should contact us as soon as possible

Q: Do I need insurance?
A: As with any adventure activity holiday we would recommend you take out adequate insurance to cover the duration of your trip and the activities planned.

Q: Are there any age restrictions?
